How to Become a Star at Networking Events

Hey Guys! I just finished reading a book called “Stepping Stones to Success” and in the final chapter this subject is highlighted.

Do you want to Stand out of the crowd at Networking Events?

-Arrive Early
-Stand off to the side and observe the room
-make it your goal to meet 5 key people

5 Key people you want to meet:
1.Introduce yourself to key speaker-person who will be in front of the room at some point
2.Next make aquaintance with organizations president
3. The Final Three People are the “Yappers”- They stand out and have people surrounding them

What to Do when You Meet These People:
-Spend about 5 min with each(total of 1 hour)
-Then take those 5 people and introduce two or three couples of them-”Yapper meet president”
-Dont stay long walk away so that they can talk about YOU before they discuss what they do.

*Do this a couple of times and then leave the event! Dont stand around and have “commission Breath” and just talk and talk about your business. Your job here is done!

What to Do When you leave the Event:
-Call, Email, or Send a Card to each of the 5 people
-Tell them it was nice to meet them
-Schedule an appointment for lunch or coffee to meet

*Contacting them is important because even if you dont meet up, the next time you are at the event they will acknowledge you while in front of everyone and apologize for not meeting up with you. This presents value to everyone around them!
